APRA Canada's 10th
Anniversary Conference
Toronto 2010:
Advancing Research, Inspiring Innovation
October 13 - 15, 2010
Welcome from
Co-Chairs, Stephanie Jonescu & Julia Sutherland
Whether you are looking for a new idea to rejuvenate your
research program, or help getting started, APRA Canada's conference
Toronto 2010: Advancing Research, Inspiring Innovation
will meet your expectations.
Expect three-days
of relevant, inspiring and practical education for Canadian
research and fundraising professionals. Expect to debate and
discuss best practices with colleagues from educational, healthcare,
social service, arts and environmental organizations. Expect
to push the boundaries and tackle some of the emerging topics
and issues facing Canadian researchers today. Expect to be
inspired with new ideas to solve your everyday challenges.
The conference
will open with what we're sure will be an engaging and entertaining
keynote address from Diane Francis (author of Who Owns
Canada Now? and editor-at-large at the National Post).
Inspiring ideas from reputable and experienced speakers continue
on day two when we'll have a chance to hear from plenary speaker
David Palmer (Vice-President & Chief Advancement Officer
at the University of Toronto), and then in our third general
session, David Lamb, a prospect researcher since 1989 and
frequent speaker at AFP, CASE and APRA International conferences
will contribute his insight on a leading issue in research
today.
This year we are
also pleased to be able to offer expanded programming with
over 12 sessions covering such topics as international prospecting,
social media, and private company valuation. In addition,
we're trying something new on the third day with longer, workshop
style sessions that offer an opportunity to explore issues
in greater depth. If you're seeking ideas around datamining,
you won't want to miss an expanded session with renowned datamining
expert, Peter Wylie. And if you're new to the profession,
you'll want to join the workshop for new researchers and take
away strategies, including how to present research information
effectively and how to get the most out of your resources.
Finally, an important
element of any conference is the chance to meet and network
with professional colleagues. Expect many opportunities to
do just that. Meet and discuss important topics during roundtable
sessions and then continue the conversations more informally
during a variety of social events, including a celebration
party for APRA Canada's 10th anniversary.
We hope we'll see
you there,
Stephanie &
Julia
