I had one supervisor where this happened quite a bit before we realized what was happening. Many times the very skills that make great frontline fundraisers and great fundraising researchers translate into two very different languages!

The 30th Annual International Apra Conference held in Anaheim in July was a fabulous experience. This was my second time attending an Apra International Conference (the last time was in Denver, way back in 2008). This conference was quite different than Denver, partly because I am much more experienced as a researcher, but also because the conference has grown so much in eight years! There were more than 1,000 attendees from around the world.

As Co-chair of the 2018 Apra Canada Conference, I am delighted to invite you to set aside October 17-19, 2018 in your calendars for our biennial gathering.

 The conference will be held in Toronto, Ontario but in a new location than previous years. This time we will be gathering at the DoubleTree Toronto Downtown. This hotel and conference facility is conveniently located near the subway and has easy access to parking.

Join us for Apra Canada's first roundtable discussion event on October 24th, 2017 from 3pm - 5pm EST.  This event is open to both members and non-members of Apra Canada and will be held in the President's Boardroom at the University of Toronto.  Remote access will be available for those who cannot attend in person.  The event will consist of three moderated discussions on topics that concern the field of prospect research today.  Please save the date if you are available and we look forward to your participation.  More details and registration information will be distributed in the coming w

Call for mentors!

Apra Canada Mentorship program is currently looking for experienced prospect researchers to share their knowledge with newer members of the profession. We currently have a number of mentees looking to be teamed up with mentors who work in the fields of analytics, higher education, international relief and health.

Membership Report by Melissa Young, Director Membership

I am pleased to report that our Apra Canada membership is healthy and will hopefully continue to grow into 2018/19 year with the next Conference taking place in 2018.  The current number of members in Apra Canada stands at 177 members strong!

As we move into the fall, the Board is already busy preparing for activities in the months to come - this includes our Board elections. This year, we have 5 vacancies and hope that members take the opportunity to self-nominate when the formal call for nominations is circulated in October.
