In August of this year I was fortunate enough to attend the APRA International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, thanks to the financial support provided by the 2014 Radikha Jaggernauth Memorial Scholarship and my institution, Dalhousie University.

I often feel like a “Rock Star” at APRA Canada conferences. After years of being a presenter, I am well known and often sought out for networking.

At the 2014 APRA Canada Conference, I gave two presentations. The sessions were very successful (though I have yet to receive my formal feedback), and I enjoyed the opportunity to both share knowledge with, and learn from, my industry peers.

In 2014, APRA Canada held three professional development events:

On February 12, 2014, we hosted a TwitterTalk as part of APRA International’s inaugural Education Week.  Sarah McCarthy, the Ivey Schools of Business’s Associate Director, Research volunteered to moderate this event which covered a diverse array of subjects. 

MENTORSHIP REPORT

There are currently fourteen mentee-mentor matches in the program. Of those, four of the pairs will reach their one year commitment by the end  February 2015. Since the APRA Canada conference in October, there has been a spike in interest in the program. In October 2015, four people came forward looking for a mentor, and referenced the conference as a source of their interest in the program.
