Share Your Ideas and Achievements!

Why Present at APRA-Canada’s Conference?
Like technology, the field of prospect research is growing and diversifying rapidly. Years ago, we were tasked with answering questions and producing multi-page profiles until we helped fundraisers realize the power of data manipulation, visualization, and the potential of social media tools to uncover gems of information and solid leads. Now, we are data geeks, shrewd investigators, process designers, prospect developers, and still profile-writing pros. It’s all the more critical and exciting that we come together to share our niche knowledge and learn from each other. We want you to consider presenting a learning session this October at APRA-Canada’s conference, Leading Discovery.

How to Get Started
Sometimes, it’s difficult to get started especially if creating and delivering presentations don’t constitute part of your everyday work. The best approach is to bounce an idea or two off your colleagues and gauge their interest.

Are you interested in a particular sub-set of prospect research that you’d like to explore further? Have you worked on a project that impressed your fundraisers and senior management that helped move your organization’s goals forward? Perhaps you’ve presented a webinar or written a Scoop article in the past that could use a significant update? All represent interesting topic ideas for a proposal submission to the conference planning committee!

You’re Live!
The learning session format allows you to present your ideas to an engaged group of colleagues who understand your language. In no other forum will you be able to encourage and enhance meaningful dialogue around your topic. It’s an exhilarating feeling, teaching and interacting with a live audience who appreciates your material. Practice your presentation skills in a supportive environment. This confidence-booster will help your career and personal growth, as well as elevate your profile among your colleagues.

Hot Topics
We’re a diverse non-profit community in Canada. We need to hear from speakers from all geographic regions, working in different types of organizations like higher education, healthcare and advocacy, social service agencies, cultural institutions, and foundations. We are looking for learning sessions focused on many topics including:

  • Best practices for prospect research in a campaign
  • Strategies and tools for identifying prospects
  • Prospect management and pipeline development
  • Benchmarking, metrics and reporting
  • Data analytics
  • Analyzing wealth indicators
  • Industry trends in philanthropy and business...and many others!

Next Steps
Be part of a well-developed programme that includes professional speakers, authors, fundraisers, foundation directors, data consultants and trends analysts. Help foster APRA-Canada’s learning culture by reinforcing our quest as leaders in discovery.
