Issue 37 April 2012

By Mark Neilans

It is April, and for everyone across Canada that means tax filing time.  And it is the same for APRA Canada.   I’m currently preparing our tax return and should have that finished by the end of the week.  It’s amazing how much we collect, and spend, on taxes every year!

This is the first time I’ve had a chance to file a treasurer’s report since the New Year and our annual APRA Canada holiday parties.   We had a great response to the holiday party initiative again, which is great to see.  It really is one of the great benefits of an APRA Canada membership.  This year, 54 people participated across the country (to date) and we have reimbursed $540 towards holiday parties.

As to our financial position: we currently have $45,382 in our accounts.

Our major expenses continue to be teleconference fees.  As our APRA Canada 2012 conference nears, our conference executives and volunteers are fast at work planning and preparing an exciting event.  And, of course, coordinating through the use of teleconferencing.  As the conference nears, too, we expect to have many expenses related to it.

In the coming months, we expect to be busy with conference registration, membership registration and issuing receipts.  It’s an exciting time.

Overall, as I’ve said before, the chapter continues to be in a very strong financial position moving forward.
