Issue 39 December 2012

Welcome to the first post-conference The Scoop with your new board! What an exciting couple of months this has been. The 2012 Leading Discovery conference surpassed all expectations in regard to sponsorship, sessions, attendees and educational experiences. Look for Selene’s update in this issue of The Scoop. Thank you again to all of the committee members and conference volunteers. Conference co-chairs Selene Hur and Preeti Gill deserve yet another standing ovation for their tireless work on the conference over the past 2 years. I guess that means we need to start planning for the 2014 conference! And yes, we need YOU – APRA Canada members – to come and join as co-chairs or the committee so you too can be part what of the best targeted professional development opportunity in Canada for prospect researchers.

Thank you also to our recently retired APRA-Canada Board members: it’s a hard gig, but definitely worthwhile as you would agree. Val, I will work hard to fill your shoes and continue your great work in leadership, innovation, and the ongoing updating of by-laws. Yes, our new APRA-Canada by-laws have been filed and are in effect in the province of BC and will soon be filed across the other provinces. The new by-laws will soon be posted on our website as well.

Please read on to get updated on the different board activities across the country. There is a lot going on, from holiday gatherings to webinars, over the next several months and it’s great to see everyone so involved with their research community.

Lastly, I would like to personally commend the past board for the grace and commitment shown to name our annual APRA-Canada Conference Scholarship in the memory of Radikha Jaggernauth.  Radikha was a wonderful member and volunteer of APRA-Canada for many years and will dearly be missed.
