Issue 40 April 2013

Editorial

Greetings and welcome to the first edition of The Scoop in 2013.  We, your new editors, thank you for your support, suggestions and contributions to this edition.  We’d also like to thank the outgoing editors – Shelly Steenhorst-Baker and Sharina Janif- for their service and dedication to The Scoop.  We look forward to continuing in their exemplary standards, and of connecting and working with you on our newsletter.

In this our inaugural edition, we focused on gathering updates on recent key activities – past and upcoming.  As such, we have messages from our APRA Canada Board members as well as survey results on best practices in the area of media monitoring.  Our President, Tracey Church, shares the discussions at the recent APRA Presidents’ Summit, including the buzz around our Twitter Talk enterprise.  Shelly Steenhorst-Baker gives us an update on the first Twitter Talk session and shares information on the upcoming webinar in May. Liz Rejman presents an overview of the upcoming APRA International Conference and the APRA Canada members who will be presenting there.

We also have invitations from our Board for your involvement in other opportunities, such as being a mentor (Erin Bartok), or to help plan the 2014 APRA Canada Conference (Liz Rejman).

Our feature article is on media monitoring best practices. Anne Lessard and David Bell of the York University’s Schulich School of Business share their survey findings and learnings on this vital area.

We hope that you enjoy the information in this edition of The Scoop.  We look forward to hearing from you. Please contact us with you ideas and suggestions.
