By: Steven Sorensen, Director, Regional Reps
I would like to thank all of APRA Canada's Regional Representatives for organizing various activities in their regions. Some of the regional activities for 2014 and the beginning of 2015 included:
- APRA Canada Calgary - a lunch get-together for 12researchers on January 21, 2015. Those at the lunch agreed to the idea of meeting two or three times a year to share work experiences in brown-bag lunches
- APRA Canada Montreal - five researchers held a get-together on October 3, 2014
- APRA Canada Toronto - held an after-work social dinner and Blue Jays game in September 2014
- APRA Canada Halifax - four researchers held a pizza party in conjunction with the SEDI webinar in early August 2014
- APRA Canada London - 14 researchers gathered at Church Key Bistro and Pub
- A Canadian delegate dinner was organized at the APRA International Conference in July 2014 with 20+ researchers
- APRA Canada Kitchener/Waterloo - five researchers held a gathering
As of January 2015, APRA Canada has a reported 23 Regional Representatives. We still need Regional Reps for the following areas: Vancouver-area, Newfoundland, Waterloo/Kitchener, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan.
Goals for 2015:
- Maintain a full contingency of Regional Reps – Actively try to fill all of the current vacant Regional Rep positions and any further vacancies that may occur
- Encourage Regional Activities – Work with Regional Reps to encourage interaction among Prospect Researchers in their areas through activities like social gatherings and webinars
- Regional Information Hubs – Work with the APRA Canada regions to create and maintain a regionally-focused Prospect Research resource tool, and encourage regions to work together on information presentations
- Regional Ambassadorship – Work on encouraging APRA Canada regions to engage Prospect Researchers visiting or moving to their region. Work on a reference site of regional activity and social gathering location recommendations
- APRA Canada Membership Directory – Work on the Membership Directory on the APRA Canada website to include members’ regional information to make it easier for Regional Reps to contact APRA Canada members in their area
